Volunteer Task Programme
Our volunteers carry out practical countryside management on the four sites that make up Banstead Commons. Sessions are usually held on the first Tuesday and third Wednesday and Thursday of every month. Dates and tasks are finalised in advance of each season.
If you have time on your hands and would like to volunteer in the beautiful countryside setting of the Commons, then click on the Volunteer Task Programme button below.
All tasks are led by either a member of staff or a leader volunteer who will instruct you on the day’s activities and provide a full safety briefing on arrival. No prior experience is necessary. We ask that volunteers read our Information and Safety Awareness Booklet before volunteering.
Volunteers should come prepared for working outdoors, wearing sturdy boots and suitable clothing for the weather on the day. You’ll also need to bring your own gardening gloves (we do have spares), a packed lunch and water.
We will provide hand tools, hot refreshments, laughter and biscuits!
Please note that work parties will be cancelled when the weather would make outdoor working hazardous or difficult.
"It's great being able to support Banstead Commons Conservators by giving some of my spare time to help improve the precious habitats on the Commons that I've had the privilege to enjoy for most of my life. In addition to the clean air and exercise, it is lovely meeting new people over break time. I'd highly recommend getting involved!"
